My First 8 Months of Lifting

My First 8 Months of Lifting

in this video I want to tell you a story the story of how I started lifting what I did in the beginning and what I would do differently if I could go back in time and give myself some advice my story begins when I was 17 I was in the 11th grade high school and my friend Rajesh who you have seen many times in my vlogs he was the one that dragged me to the gym because initially I didn’t want to go I remember that I used every excuse to not go to the gym to skip workouts hey Rajesh yeah um look I can’t make it to the gym today it’s raining and I have homework to do but that changed pretty quickly as soon as I started seeing progress seeing my body changing and my strength going up I became very dedicated now our training routine in the beginning was obviously bad for one I was clueless I didn’t know anything about either nutrition or training but Rajesh just started reading fitness magazines so he was in charge of the training so I just followed everything that he said and everything that he did I actually still remember our old routine pretty well I’m gonna put it up on the screen right here now clearly this is a bad routine I mean I don’t even know where to start the frequency is low the volume is decreasing high for a beginner I was missing entire muscle groups and I was using ascending pyramid sense so things were bad in general but the question is did it work actually yeah in our examples you can clearly see how powerful the new beginning is actually hard in the beginning everything works no matter how bad it is and my nutrition was bad as well first of all I was not getting enough protein i had the normal teenager diet i ate a lot of junk food and at home i ate you know reasonable meals whatever my mom cooked but i was drinking a lot of alcohol in romania when you reach the age of 18 years old you usually have a big party because you celebrate reaching the adult age and if you think about it if you have around 50 friends or classmates that are in the same generation as you that means you go to one of those epic parties every weekend and that’s exactly what happened to us and to me and we went to those parties every weekend and we drank a lot so even with bad training and bad nutrition i still make good games because that’s what happens when you’re a beginner when you have the newbie games on your side but after i maxed out to those newbie gains seven to eight months after I started lifting well guess what the advice that radish gave me no longer worked and that is when I went online in search for answers very big mistake after I went online that is when information overload hit me that’s when I started doing all the eating every two three hours going low-carb doing a lot of cardio because I was I thought that you could lose fat and gain muscle at the same time every side was saying that and now I have an even bigger problem because I thought that I was doing everything right I was putting in more effort and more time in my nutrition and training and that was still not making progress and I didn’t understand why so you can imagine that after a few so that I got really frustrated so after a few weeks of that I decided to start going to the gym completely because I thought it was my last year of high school I had some exams that year and I also started working and you know because of the lack of time and frustration I decided to stop going to the gym oh and an interesting side note what I was working on I was actually a writer I was writing reviews for dietary supplements and yeah imagine that 17 years old writing reviews for dietary supplements that’s an interesting story as well I think I’m going to share it in another video so anyway I stopped going to the gym for about one and a half years and I started lifting again in the summer of 2013 and that’s when I started reading more stuff that’s when I got into kino body and I started reading some good resources and my my study began and I got to where I am now so what I would have done differently if I could go back in time and give myself some advice first of all I would study the overall philosophy for building a great physique because that in my opinion is the most important you must know what you need to do at any given point in your fitness journey and now I actually wrote an entire ebook about that it’s right here it’s the battery onboard physique I wrote that ebook for other people that are at the beginning and they don’t know what to do if you get that ebook it’s free you can click that and download it if you read that ebook at the start of your fitness journey you have a big advantage because it shows you what you must focus on second of all in terms of training I would do much lower volume but I would increase the frequency and I would focus on gaining strength on a few key movements so instead of doing out of exercises in one session I would do less exercises but more frequently because I would want to progress as fast as possible on those exercises and beginners the reason beginners do very well on high frequency is because they can progress every time they go to the gym so it makes sense to train an exercise in body part several times a week because you get more opportunities to progress and lastly I would study the basics of nutrition I would learn about macros and about energy balance learning the basics of nutrition save you from believing a lot of about nutrient timing about meal frequency about supplements about macro combinations about a lot of stuff if you understand that calories in versus calories out is the most important thing and after that comes macros then you will know what you need to focus on so this is it guys my story on how I started lifting the mistakes I did in the beginning and what I would do differently if you have any questions leave them below I will gladly answer thank you for watching
