Molly Smith: My weight loss journey

Hey guys! My name is Molly Smith and I
work off Instagram as @molsinspire with a weight loss inspiration account. I have successfully lost over a hundred
pounds through diet and exercise. I started on my weight loss journey probably
six or seven years ago. I wasn’t really I started on my weight loss journey probably
six or seven years ago. I wasn’t really sure what I was doing when I set out to
lose the weight. I just kind of started and then it was a snowball effect.
I would say once you start seeing results you get obsessed with the them and you want more and more and more.
Five years later I had successfully lost about a hundred pounds. I had then
started an Instagram to document my journey and by then it kind of took off
and became a full-time career for me. So it was really like being in the
right time, right place. Just sharing your life authentically has
really become a huge part of my life. I first started starving myself
when I was in high school. I would get results from it and then I would
rebound backwards and gain more weight. This took me all the way through university.
Starving myself, binging, starving myself, binging… To my highest weight of 236 pounds. I started going downwards and I just had
the worst relationship with myself and with food to the point where I
only felt good going out and being around people if I
hadn’t eaten for a few days. If I had gone on a binge, I didn’t
want to see anyone or talk to anyone or do anything and it’s just it’s such a vicious cycle. It really wasn’t until I got sick that I really started focusing on like just being the
healthiest version of myself and I I started thinking what’s the healthiest version of myself and if I
look great in the process then that’s a bonus. But for right now I just want to
be as healthy as I possibly can. That’s a mindset that it takes
a lot to get around but if you can get there and really just start focusing on
how can I be the fittest, how can I lift more, run faster and those kind of goals they’re still measurable but they’re not weight
on the scale or how you look in the mirror necessarily I think those are a lot healthier mindsets to get yourself around. Given I do still weigh myself and I do still monitor stuff like that but
it’s really getting yourself around healthy practices
that I think is so important. I get asked this a lot the number one
thing I would say and it is the most important thing it’s focus on being a
healthier version of yourself rather than putting your goal as
looks based. Try to just do it for a healthier version of yourself and if
looking good comes as a result that’s great. If you focus on being a healthier
version of yourself looking good will always come as a result of that. The
healthier you is going to be the most attractive you and I really cannot
drive that home enough.
