Meet Maryland Business Manager Marylynn Moore: How she makes a living from her Facebook business
Marylynn is the manager of a Maryland-based Facebook business that uses the site to advertise its wares and promote local businesses.
But her personal story of growing up in a small town in California has turned her into a business owner in Maryland.
Marylynn met her current manager, Matthew D’Angelo, while working in Maryland as a software engineer and started her Facebook company.
“I had never heard of a Facebook business, and I didn’t know that any of the features were available,” she says.
“We decided to build it and build it fast.”
Marylynn’s business is the brainchild of Matthew D, a native Marylander who grew up in the tiny town of Pembroke Pines.
After graduating from college in 2015, D worked at a hardware manufacturer in Virginia and joined the family business in 2017.
He was looking for a way to help his family’s small-town operation, and he decided to launch a Facebook-powered business.
“My goal was to get to know Facebook and build a business around it,” D says.
It’s an ambitious goal, especially when you consider that Facebook is only available in the U.S. for select customers.
The Facebook app is a great tool for a business to advertise, but the website is a big pain for small businesses.
“You have to get a bunch of ads to reach a huge number of people, and Facebook ads aren’t very friendly to small businesses,” says D. He also wanted to make sure his business was successful.
“Facebook advertising is a huge pain in the ass for small business owners,” he says.
That’s when Matthew decided to help Marylynn grow.
Facebook has a growing following in Maryland, but it’s not easy to get in touch with the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Mark Zuckerberg Enterprises.
So D decided to start a small Facebook group called the Maryland Business Facebook Group.
He started by creating a Facebook profile, which he then added to the group.
He then created a page for Marylynn and a handful of other Marylanders who were interested in creating a business.
The goal was not to create a business but to help people create one.
“It was like the Facebook of small businesses, but with the business name,” D explains.
The business was not an exact replica of the one D had imagined.
“The biggest thing was to make it look like a real business,” he explains.
“To do that, I had to use the Facebook tools.”
D says that the biggest challenge he faced was making sure his website and social media ads were functional.
“People can make mistakes on Facebook,” he admits.
“When they create a Facebook page, the page gets deleted.
But if you use Facebook to promote something, it shows up in your newsfeed.”
But with his website, D says he had the most success.
He found that most people were impressed with the site’s business features.
“In the end, I was able to attract 10 to 15 business owners to my Facebook group,” he said.
D says his Facebook business has grown to include over 200 business owners in Maryland and he has been able to reach customers from across the country.
“Some people even buy their business directly from my Facebook business,” D said.
“If someone is in the market for a home, they can go online and buy it directly from me.”
D’s Facebook page is filled with updates on the business’s progress and the people who are interested in working with the company.
Marylynne is one of the members of the Facebook group, and she shares some of the best advice she’s received from her manager.
“He has a great ability to make you laugh and laugh at the same time,” she said.
As the business grows, D hopes that it will become even more popular.
“Maryland is a very small town and it’s tough for small entrepreneurs to get into business,” she explains.
It was also tough for her to find someone to work with who was able and willing to help.
“That’s a huge reason why my Facebook page got so popular,” she admits.
