Aussie business startup aims to make email more efficient by using technology
Business startups like eCox have long been using technology to make emails more efficient.
But now a team of researchers from Australia’s University of Technology has come up with an innovative way to automate the process.

“Email is one of the most important communications channels of the 21st century.”
“What you want to do is automate that process, so that people don’t have to spend time looking for a specific person or email address to receive the message,” he says.
“We’re taking the technology and the process, and making it easier for people to do it.”
Scott and his team, working with IBM’s Cloud-based business intelligence platform Watson, found that sending emails through email would require only two steps.
First, the user has to enter their email address in the box to the left of the confirmation email.
Second, Watson will then search for relevant email addresses and send them to the user.
The result is a new type of email client, dubbed the Watson Email Client.
“There are many email clients that are very similar, but they are not really as flexible, and you can’t just type in your email address,” Scott says.
“What we have done is create a client that allows people to enter a phone number and we will then take that and send it to the customer.”
This is essentially the same way as sending an email through an email program like Outlook, but we’re making it so that it is easier for the person to get the message to the person who is actually receiving it.
“The team is also looking at how to make it more useful for business owners, rather than the average employee.”
We think it’s important that people are getting the most out of their business, but at the same time, if we are going to get them the best out of it, we need to understand how to automate that workflow,” Scott explains.”
It’s not something you can just do yourself.

Scott says that, for example, people who are new to email might struggle to understand the process of how email works.”
In this study, we saw that many of the people who were unfamiliar with email were struggling with email, and we thought, ‘why not take the technology we’ve developed and apply it to some business tasks?’
In the study, the researchers also tested how people would use Watson to create a customisable email account with a single click.
The results were surprising.
The company found that the email client was very popular among those who had already used the service.”
You get more people using it than those who have not yet used it,” Scott said.
While it is still early days for the technology, the Watson email client is expected to have a large impact on the business world. ReadMore
